Fundraising

We can only keep the Civic Hall open with your support. We are a charity run by local volunteers. Here are some ways that you can support us:

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a UK tax incentive that allows charities to reclaim basic rate tax on donations made by UK taxpayers. When an individual donates to a charity under the Gift Aid scheme, the charity can claim an additional 25% of the donation amount from the government, increasing the value of the gift at no extra cost to the donor.

How Gift Aid Works

Donation: A donor makes a contribution to a charity and confirms that they want the donation to be treated as a Gift Aid donation.

Declaration: The donor must provide a Gift Aid declaration, confirming that they are a UK taxpayer and that they have paid or will pay enough tax to cover all donations they make to charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs).

Reclamation: The charity submits a claim to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to reclaim the basic rate tax on the donation.

Requirements and Considerations

Eligibility: Donors must be UK taxpayers and have paid enough tax to cover the Gift Aid claims. If not, they may be required to pay the difference.

Record Keeping: Charities must keep records of all donations and Gift Aid declarations to support their claims to HMRC.

Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS): For small cash donations (up to £30), charities can claim Gift Aid on up to £8,000 of donations per year without needing a declaration, under the GASDS.

Legacy

Why leave a legacy to Bedworth Civic Hall?

Bedworth Civic Hall is a registered charity (charity number 1206605) dedicated to enhancing wellbeing through the arts. We offer various bespoke and open projects designed to foster strong, engaged communities, and we aim to support the areas most vulnerable residents. Our inclusive and accessible approach ensures that no one is excluded, regardless of their income, access needs, or social or religious background.

With your support, we can expand these programs and reach more individuals across the region. While we receive some funding from local authorities and specific project grants, we must still raise a significant portion of our income each year.

By leaving a legacy to Bedworth Civic Hall, you will help ensure that future generations can enjoy and participate in the arts.

What you need to know

While it’s not pleasant to think about death, arranging your will with a solicitor ensures your wishes are clear to those you leave behind, making their grieving process easier. It also allows you, rather than the government, to decide the distribution of your assets.

Dying without a will (intestate) can lead to uncertainty and prolonged resolution times. Creating a will can alleviate much distress for your loved ones, providing them with the comfort of knowing your exact wishes. It’s also advisable to review your will during major life events, such as marriage, having a child or grandchild, or moving abroad.

Leaving a charitable donation in your will can also help reduce your Inheritance Tax liability, as charitable legacies are deducted from your estate before tax calculation.

There are three types of charitable donations you can leave to a charity. Consult a solicitor to determine which is most appropriate for you:

Pecuniary Gift – A fixed sum of money (no minimum amount).

Residuary Legacy – A share or the whole of your estate after all gifts have been distributed and debts paid off.

Specific Gift – A tangible item such as a work of art or property.

Please contact info@bedworthcivichall.co.uk if you would like to know more about Legacy Giving.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and to those considering doing so in the future.
